NIGERIA AT 53

Come October 1st we will mark the 53rd independence anniversary of our nation, but what is there to celebrate by the average Nigerian. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, let’s stop deceiving ourselves that we are progressing in this country and quit comparing ourselves with ourselves when we are in a global village, considering our vast resources and position in Afica, we are the most unsuccessful nation on the planet the most miserable, as a matter of fact we are a third world country by every standard, in what good thing has NIGERIA consistently excelled?.We are getting worse by the day, yearly we are moving backwards.
Our founding fathers laid a good foundation as best as they could, but what are we building on this solid foundation; corruption, greed, crime, we are on the top 10 list of everything negative. This is not what the fathers laid down their lives for, NO THIS IS NOT IT!
If we continue to patch up this building called Nigeria, the day it will come crashing on us, then we will realize that we have been wasting valuable time and resources refurbishing what we should have long overhauled and built afresh, the track we are on presently is leading nowhere but steep and deep down!.
The present brood of leaders don’t have our interest at heart, don’t be fooled by their cheap talk, the current happenings all over the country is a glaring indicator to the fact that this country to them is nothing more a large cake that by all means possible they must cut a sizeable portion.
We the people have to take our destinies in our hands and demand our rights and secure the future for the coming generations; it has become our duty, our mission, and our call. Our parents told us stories of how good things were when they were growing up, the cost of living, education, transportation, power, security, housing, employment, etc, but what did they do to secure that good for us, for our generation? All they kept for us are memories that griefs our souls and angers our hearts, they were either too afraid, or saw no need and reason to fight for our future. They are now old, retired (without sustainable pensions) tired and marking time; BUT THEY DID NOT FIGHT FOR OUR FUTURE!
Do we want to repeat history by telling our children the same pathetic and annoying moonlight stories? In the days when they pay #1,000 per liter of petrol, we will tell them that we paid just #95.Oh! or you think that by some miracle things will just change for good and our children will have a better life than ours, I know we are smarter than that and our history is a good reference point.
IF WE DON’T STAND AND TAKE OUR DESTINY IN OUR HANDS TODAY, NOTHING WILL CHANGE, THINGS WILL ONLY GET WORSE, TRUST ME!
Let’s meet at the ‘peoples constitution’ page on facebook and start reviewing and rewriting our constitution. Take time off to read the present constitution and you will sadly discover that no nation can prosper with this kind of document as its  compass. Lets do it, better to die fighting than go to the grave a coward, let our children know, see, read and hear that their fathers fought for their future,I won’t sit and wait to tell my children tales of failure! We won’t and must NOT!!!
