THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE: FRAMEWORK.
Cc:
Nigerians (Home And Abroad);
National Conference Advisory Committee;
To Whom It May Also Remotely Concern.
Talks about this conference is becoming noise and
argument left, right and center, and I am really getting very uncomfortable
over this disturbing trend. I therefore want to raise a point of order before we end up
complicating a simple matter. We need to be calm, stand back for a moment and
observe what is going before we get carried away by the irrelevant and
unproductive blabbering of desperate politicians. I observe that Nigerians are
not meaningfully engaging this conference, only politicians are debating for
and against, this is very disturbing and it portends danger lest the whole
project is hijacked from our hands by the very enemy we are supposed to be
fighting. This conference is to Nigerians a new lease of life and to
politicians a death sentence, that battle line must be drawn without fear, their
fate lies in our hands and not the other way round, very important. We must not
let them turn this conference to a campaign platform like we saw in Edo State.
My expectation at this time is that every ethnic
nationality, professional bodies and associations, artisans, students
associations, all interest groups etc should be having their in-house meetings
to chose their representatives and more importantly debate and articulate their
positions on all perceived issues of concern and come up with a paper that they
will present at the conference. Such papers should also be made available
online.
With respect to the grassroots, selection should be
based on ethnicity as determined by the dialect, going by the local government
arrangement may not be all encompassing because there are local government
areas where you have more than one ethnic group, similarly some ethnic groups
cover more than one local government areas, therefore representation should be
on ethnic nationality basis rather than on local government areas. They too
must choose their representatives and produce papers on their positions. This
should be our primary assignment and major preoccupation from now through 2014,
lets not concern ourselves with politicians and their party jamborees, they
need us, we don’t need them, we call the shots, we make the rules, so don’t
allow them to deceive or even intimidate you. My prayer; (if we are organized,
articulate and fast enough) is that the resolution from this conference will
chart the course for 2015 election, if there is ever going to be an election. GOVERNANCE
MUST BE ON OUR TERMS!
The resolutions from this conference should not be
arrived at through a democratic process rather it must be on consensus. Every
issue must be debated constructively and resolutions arrived at without any
group feeling sidelined or shortchanged. Nutty issues where amicable decision
become impossible status quo should be maintained, this will be an indicator of
our mutual tolerance and national unity. Every group must be able and willing
to adjust, compromise or even forgo their positions to accommodate their neighbor and also be nationalistic and patriotic in their demands. The
resolution must be made public and every participating group must be copied.
About submitting the resolution to the National
Assembly or having a referendum really makes no difference to me, once
Nigerians decide, it will be in the best interest of NASS to pass the decision
into law, all we have to do is give them a deadline, if the resolution is not
passed and adopted as presented, there won’t be an election in 2015; simple!LET
THEM DARE US! .I hope they won’t learn the hard way that sovereignty indeed
belongs to the people. Whosoever is not with us on this is definitely against
us, and must be so treated. There are two kinds of people that are very
dangerous to mess with; the man who has everything to gain; and the man who has
nothing to lose! PEOPLE, WE ARE BOTH KINDS!!!
If there is another military take-over in this
country, it is the fault of the politicians; PDP, nPDP and APC especially! It
will be a sin that Nigerians will not forgive or forget, we will inscribe it on
their doorposts, on their foreheads and on their tombstones, and we shall
chorus it to their children and children’s children to the tenth generation.
